2015 Edisto Wahoo Tournament

This weekend fishermen from everywhere will be coming to Edisto for the 2015 Edisto Wahoo Tournament hosted by the Edisto Marina.

This Friday is the last day to register, so if you or someone you know is interested in participating in this event, make sure you get signed up to participate.

Registration opens from 5-7 p.m. and there will be a captains meeting immediately following.

The event begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday and will last until the final boat comes back to the marina. Scales will be open from 4-6 p.m. and the public is welcome to come out and see the catch as it is weighed. Awards will be given out at 7 p.m.

Even if you are not participating in the event, celebrate those who do by coming down to watch as captains and their crew bring in their wahoo. Whoever comes in with the largest wahoo will receive cash prizes.

If you haven’t been to the marina yet this summer season, be sure to stop by soon to take a look at how much things have changed. The marina itself has new ownership, but its management remains the same, so if you’ve always been a fan of Steve and Larry, then don’t worry because they’re still around.

You can also visit its official website at themarinaeb.com. This site will provide you with all the information you need about the islands only marina.

Now that the high season has ended, this is the perfect time to visit the marina and experience live music on the deck Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays. You can take in the incredible scenery while enjoying a cold drink or some delicious food from Pressley’s Restaurant.

The marina also offers patrons with inshore and offshore fishing charters, boat tours, sunset cruises and kayak excursions. This is yet another change the new ownership has brought to the marina, but it only enhances its existing services.

So, if you’re in the area or looking for something to do this weekend, come down to the marina and you’ll be glad you did.
