Summer 2017 Events: Edisto Has Something for Everyone

There’s a saying that most Edisto lovers have uttered a time or two. When people who have never experienced the joy that is this piece of paradise, they’ll typically ask what there is to do at the beach. Many of us answer simply with this: “Nothing.”

But that answer might be misleading.

Edisto has everything. The ocean. The beach. Parks. Trails. Starry nights. However, if you’re looking for entertainment, we don’t have too much of that. But, things are starting to pick up.

Beginning in June, come out to Arts in the Park at Bay Creek Park. This event is brought to you by the Edisto Chamber of Commerce, Town of Edisto Beach and Edisto Art Guild. It starts at 5 p.m. and is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring food, drinks, blankets and chairs to enjoy the music.

Come see the bands Edisto Gumbo, Sing America and Edisto Jazz Group as they perform on June 11, July 9 and August 13 respectively.

Want more music?  Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is live music at the marina. Attendees can enjoy the tunes with some drinks and appetizers.

If you’re into art, head out to the Edisto Island Museum to view the Jennie Gowan Show and Summer Exhibition. This show starts June 5. The museum is filled with artifacts and nuggets of history from Edisto’s storied past. It also features furnishings from one of the island’s oldest plantations along with relics from one of Edisto’s former slave cabins.

Overall, Edisto has something for everyone. But if you’re into the glitz and glam of other beach towns, then you won’t find it here. Edisto is known for its chill, relaxed vibe, and that’s the way we like it. So, if you’re into beach music and good times with family and friends, then you’re going to love it here.
