This weekend two local chefs will go head to head at McConkeys Jungle Shack during the second annual Edisto Ultimate Chef Competition.
This event begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday and features two teams, both of which made it through the preliminary rounds to test their culinary skills to prove who the true ultimate chef is. Be sure to attend the event to see which of the islands chefs will be putting their skills on the line for the title.
The competition also coincides with the Learning Through Loggerheads festival as tickets sold to the preliminary event benefitted LTL.
The Learning Through Loggerheads festival will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. General admission is free.
LTL provides education about the importance of conservation and protection of the Loggerhead sea turtles and their environment. For more information about the organization visit ltlonline.org
The festival, which takes place in the parking lot behind McConkeys will be full of games and activities set up in the grassy area toward the back of the parking lot for children. An arts and crafts market and various other vendors will also be set up in the area.
Animal Lovers of Edisto will also be present with adoptable dogs outside of Edisto Snow Cones located in the parking lot as well next to the grassy area.
A community oyster roast will follow at 5 p.m. Tickets to the event are $20 in advance, $25 the day of. Tickets for $5 will also be sold so festival-goers can take part in grand prize drawings. Tickets are available at McConkeys.
