Wine Down Wednesdays

Taking time to relax after a long day with a glass of wine or a drink is something many people would say is one of their favorite things to do. What’s great about this time of year is that are numerous opportunities for individuals interested in imbibing to do so with others.

For instance, at Ella and Ollie’s, located in the Wyndham Resort in Edisto Beach (which is open to the public), offers Wine Down Wednesdays featuring $20 select wines. Plus, you can dine on some of the best food on the island while you’re there.

If you really want to go hard with your love of wine, head into Charleston to Old Towne Creek County Park for Wine Down Wednesdays. This spring, beginning this Wednesday, head to 1400 Old Towne Road in Charleston for this event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

It features food trucks, live music and wine for those old enough to imbibe. Tickets are $20 at the gate.

What’s especially interesting about this event is that the park was formerly Ashem Farm. It’s a 67-acre estate full of live oaks and was home to the St. Andrews Riding Academy. Plus, it was the state’s first English settlement. This park is not actually open to the public just yet aside from special events, so take this opportunity to visit this historic site.

Not a huge fan of wine? Check out Yappy Hour. This event pairs two of the best things in the world: drinking and dogs.

Yappy Hour takes place from 4-8 April 27, May 18, Sept. 14 and Oct 12 at the James Island County Park. Dogs get the chance to run around together off leash. Plus, they can even go swimming in the pond at the park. Adults get the chance to purchase alcohol and listen to live music. Admission is just $2 (and free for dogs).

Take advantage of these opportunities to explore the area, meet new people and have a great time with family and friends.
