Vendors are already getting things set up here on Edisto for the third annual Edisto Beach Music and Shag Fest.
The festival begins at noon Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday down at Bay Creek Park by the marina. There will be all kinds of arts and crafts, vendor booths, dogs up for adoption, food and drinks, live music and plenty of things to do for any age group.
Hollow Point and East Coast Party Band will perform Friday, while the Urban Roots Reggae Band and The Headliners will perform Saturday.
Anyone willing to hit the dance floor to show what kind of chops they have at performing South Carolina’s state dance, the Shag, can participate in the dance competition that begins at 9 p.m. Saturday.
Admission to the event is $5 per day and free for anyone 13 and under.
The event is being sponsored by the Dockside Restaurant, the Town of Edisto Beach and the Edisto Chamber of Commerce.
For more information about the event call the chamber at 869-3867.
Even if you don’t attend the festival this weekend, be sure to take advantage of the end-of-summer sales happening all over Edisto Beach and the island. Many of the gift shops are offering big discounts on all kinds of items, which make for an easy way for visitors to pick up some Edisto swag.
All the rain the area has experienced this week should be a thing of the past by the time the weekend rolls in. Friday will be partly cloudy with a high of 89 degrees. There’s a 20 percent chance for some rain Friday, but it shouldn’t interfere with the festivities.
Saturday’s high is forecast for 88 degrees with a 20 percent chance of rain.
The rest of Labor Day weekend should be hot and sunny with highs in the mid-80s.
