Edisto Beach is loved by many, but there are some members of the community that never get a chance to dip their toes in the surf, watch the shrimp boats come in before sunset, or relax on a porch. These unfortunate community members are the homeless and abandoned dogs that have no place to call their own until they are picked up by the volunteers of Animal Lovers of Edisto.
Animal Lovers of Edisto is a non-profit South Carolina public charity that started in 2004 after it was evident that so many dogs in the area were in need. The organization exists off donations from residents and vacationers and counts on the continuous generosity of these people so they can care for dogs all year round. This care includes food, water, shelter, vetting, and letting the dogs know that they are safe and a part of the Edisto family forever, even after they go on to their forever-homes.
