Kiddie Pole Classic Fishing Tournament

The Kiddie Pole Classic is Edisto’s most lighthearted fishing tournament: anglers chase redfish, trout, and an inshore slam using themed kids’ rods no longer than three feet. It’s catch-and-release, and every entry supports the Jane Edwards Parent Teacher Organization and the island’s elementary school.

• Captain’s meeting: Friday, November 6, 5:30 p.m.
• Lines in: 7 a.m. Saturday
• Weigh-in: 4 – 5:30 p.m. Saturday (teams must check in by 5:30)

Categories

• Redfish aggregate: combined length of three redfish
• Speckled trout: single longest fish
• Inshore slam: longest three-fish slam from redfish, speckled trout, flounder, black drum, and sheepshead

Key Rules

• Fish must be landed on a themed kiddie rod and reel no longer than 3 feet; any line test is allowed.
• Fish in free-flowing water connected to the ocean. A boat isn’t required.
• Photos must show the whole fish on a ruler with its mouth closed. All fish are released.
• Ties go to the team that checked in first.
